Is a hero to you – a hero to me? Commitment is
a big part of being a hero, everyone depends on you. People like Rosa Parks, bomb
squads, and Burney Lapant from the movie Hero are committed heroes. A woman who
was considered low class, not worth anything changed history. Bomb squads
attend things as dangerous as bomb threats from terrorist. And this man Burney –
oh boy, he certainly was a hero in that movie. A hero is some who commits
heroic acts. Being a hero mean having to commit to the call of duty. Being a
hero means being true to your commitment whether or not they’re life is at
stake for the sake of others.
She lived in jail for a while because she
refused to give up her seat. Rosa Parks was an African American civil rights
activist. Rosa Fought against segregation and not just her right but everyone else’s
right that where other than white. Because of Rosa’s actions she lost her job
and moved out of the city. Rosa fought for the humanity of being a different
color; being purple, blue, pink, dark, white, tan, or black, doesn’t mean you’re
an animal so why should color mean anything. Rosa didn’t care if she lost her
job or that she had spent months in jail, she was committed to make a change –
she was ready for her next step – boycott. Rosa is my hero toward segregation.
They’ve been around for a while. Bombs squads
have it hard at times. Bomb squads are like are of giant ants with guns. Bomb
squads detect and disable bombs manually. These people risk themselves getting blown
up into tiny pieces to prevent major catastrophes. Being part of a bomb squad’s
means you ready for anything at any time. The commitment of a bomb squad is to
answer the call when they’re needed. They put themselves out there so we won’t
have to.
He wasn’t looking for any help, but he did
more than just help. Burney Lapant was a hero whether he may like the name or
not. Burney attended the people in the plane crash when they yelled for help. He
may have had other interest but that didn’t stop him from saving all those
lives. Burney did it all by himself, he wasn’t looking for any prize or
attention he attended his instinct on this man yelling for help. Even though Burney
was upset about his friend claiming the prize, Burney ended up being the bigger
person. Burney worked out a deal that they were both able to agree on. Deep inside
Burney knows who the hero really is. He doesn’t mind his friend getting all the
credit; he just wanted some attention and Burney was fine with that.
A hero is commitment to others. Rosa parks succeeded
in laws of segregation being the small woman that she his; she was a committed
women in what she believed. Bombs squads are there in our most scares moments
against terrorism bombings – committed to be there. And Burney Laplant was there
for those 42 passengers who he successfully saves. This is a hero in my view – what’s in yours?
