Blog #11:
I think my weakness is putting my my thoughts on paper. My ideas make seance in my mind but not on the paper; that's when ill need to reread what i wrote to make it understandable. On Thursday I'll need to take a deep berth, follow instructions read the passage over, create an outline of my ideas and things sporting to sport it. I'll then need to summarizes and agree or disagree with the main idea. use my ideas and sporting ideas to make my point (on agreeing or disagreeing), make sure to mention when and where. create a well conclusion and reread and correct and tense shifting or any sentence that needs to be either added on or taken out.

Blog #9 Acts and Heroic Personalities:
Is a hero to you – a hero to me? Commitment is
a big part of being a hero, everyone depends on you. People like Rosa Parks, bomb
squads, and Burney Lapant from the movie Hero are committed heroes. A woman who
was considered low class, not worth anything changed history. Bomb squads
attend things as dangerous as bomb threats from terrorist. And this man Burney –
oh boy, he certainly was a hero in that movie. A hero is some who commits
heroic acts. Being a hero mean having to commit to the call of duty. Being a
hero means being true to your commitment whether or not they’re life is at
stake for the sake of others.
She lived in jail for a while because she
refused to give up her seat. Rosa Parks was an African American civil rights
activist. Rosa Fought against segregation and not just her right but everyone else’s
right that where other than white. Because of Rosa’s actions she lost her job
and moved out of the city. Rosa fought for the humanity of being a different
color; being purple, blue, pink, dark, white, tan, or black, doesn’t mean you’re
an animal so why should color mean anything. Rosa didn’t care if she lost her
job or that she had spent months in jail, she was committed to make a change –
she was ready for her next step – boycott. Rosa is my hero toward segregation.
They’ve been around for a while. Bombs squads
have it hard at times. Bomb squads are like are of giant ants with guns. Bomb
squads detect and disable bombs manually. These people risk themselves getting blown
up into tiny pieces to prevent major catastrophes. Being part of a bomb squad’s
means you ready for anything at any time. The commitment of a bomb squad is to
answer the call when they’re needed. They put themselves out there so we won’t
have to.
He wasn’t looking for any help, but he did
more than just help. Burney Lapant was a hero whether he may like the name or
not. Burney attended the people in the plane crash when they yelled for help. He
may have had other interest but that didn’t stop him from saving all those
lives. Burney did it all by himself, he wasn’t looking for any prize or
attention he attended his instinct on this man yelling for help. Even though Burney
was upset about his friend claiming the prize, Burney ended up being the bigger
person. Burney worked out a deal that they were both able to agree on. Deep inside
Burney knows who the hero really is. He doesn’t mind his friend getting all the
credit; he just wanted some attention and Burney was fine with that.
A hero is commitment to others. Rosa parks succeeded
in laws of segregation being the small woman that she his; she was a committed
women in what she believed. Bombs squads are there in our most scares moments
against terrorism bombings – committed to be there. And Burney Laplant was there
for those 42 passengers who he successfully saves. This is a hero in my view – what’s in yours?

Blog #8 CATW Revision:
People in groups my react differently than they would on their own. In the story Individualism in groups by Carol Tavris mentions actions an individual would’ve made if they were alone insted of in a group. Experiments and observations were performed by scientists. As a result to the experiments, scientist came to some data that resulted in that people in groups would react by doing nothing compare to the individuals who responded in expected. ways. I strongly agree that people think and act differently in groups than they would on their own.
In the TV show Lost, people were screaming, crying and just yelling at nothing when their plane crashed on that weird island. Once the doctor (jack) and a few others tried their best to keep everyone clam. It was easier for them to cooperate with each other as a group to build shelter understanding each other’s pain that they’ve all lost someone in the crash. Before any organization into the subject, there were people scattered along the beach bowling and screaming. Once in a group people controlled their emotions more; some even avoided the group at first in the first few episodes. Just about everyone had a moment where they let there feelings out; one way ir the other. So if it wasn’t for organization, these guys would still be reminiscing their lost ones without the comfort of others sharing the same feelings.
Being in groups brings out another side of you. Personally I tend to be loud in a group. At softball games I feel that I can be goofier about things. Trying to keep a positive mind on the field and motivating the girls is a big part of being a Panther (school mascot). Whether we’re winning or losing we chant to motivate our batters/runners. When I walk the halls alone others may see me quit on my marry way to class. I can truly say that I have a better time in a group than I would on my own. It’s like another side of me comes out; I feel good about it too.
In the Lion King movie, Simba ran away after the accident of his father. Simba thought it was his fault and decided to run away from home (his stupid uncle convinced him by saying all these mean things). Simba was all depressed and walked a long journey in to the jungle. That was until Bumba and Oscar found him. Bumba, Simba, and Oscar created a group, they became more like family. Simba just by meeting these other animals got his spirit up and learned a new way of living. Simba and the others sang all through the jungle and danced to the rhythm. Bumba and Oscar changed Simba’s emotion from something negative to something positive. Simba was interested in the way they ate grubs and other insects. Simba was better off in this new group/family than he was on his own when he ran away.
In lost people where better off in groups working together than they would of if they were alone. They created better plans, and built shelters; they learned from one another. In my softball game I feel that in a group I have more energy to yell, and cheer for the team when I have the help of others. In the Lion King Bumba and Oscar helped Simba get out of his negative stage and thought him how to survive in the jungle singing and dancing. Simba would have hatted himself, and would have had to teach himself around the jungle. Being in a group changed everything and everyone in different ways. Being in a group does bring out another side out of one than it would if you were alone.

Blog #6 CATW Practice 1
Music is a part of the
medical field. Music therapy seems to work with helping patients recover. The
body and mind reacts to music in powerful ways when using music therapy.
Certain beats gives a person different brain wave levels. Music therapy is
there by categorized as your emotions. I would have to agree with Elizabeth Scott
when she wrote the article Is music a good tool for health?
Music
has been around for many years. Everyone has their own taste in music. There
are many different categories to choose from. When I’m mad I would normally go
for a long walk and put my iPod on the loudest it can possibly go. Trying to
calm down I turn to certain song/s and beginning sing with it. By the time a
few songs are over I feel a bit better. I guess in my case I us music as an
anger management therapy along with my walk. By the time I come back home I’m
in a better mood than what I left in.
Music
helps heal from a long week. You could have the worst week of the year and end
up attending a BBQ on the weekend with music playing. The music would make you
want to dance and forget about the bad week. Dancing changes you r mood and
helps your blood flow. Listing to music gets you up on your feet no matter is its
fast or slow.
Music
helps in elevators. You may find yourself impatient when ridding in elevators. Some
of us end up humming to the elevator music as we ride up or down. Look at that
your mood has changed already. If there was no music to hum to I personally
would pushing my floor butting more than once. Elevator music puts your mind at
ease when going to work or an appointment.
Without
music we would have no way of calming down, or to forget about a bad week and
have a good time. with music to help us there will be more angry people on the elevator
and bad days. We may not really pay attention to why there’s music in elevators,
but it does help keep us stable.and possibly even heal. Music therapy is the
way to go.

Blog #5 Historical and Personal Illusions
I
use to believe that family/close friends would be able to help you in the easy
and in the hardest of times – I was wrong. Even for the simple favors I would I
ask for, majority of them where never done. Whenever I use to do favors I would
do them wrong (not purposely) so till I’d had it – I let everyone know that is
they wanted anything done right that they can do themselves if they didn’t like
the way I did it. Since then It’s do it yourself till you really need the help.
A
belief I’m currently questioning but haven’t really paid mind to, or rejected
is that a pet has just about the same personality as its owner. I see common
personalities in a lot in many family members’ pets; just as I do in my own
pets as well. Some most people may say that pets look like their owners, I’ll
have to agree that some maybe but not all. My biggest and most resent
realization is with my brother’s pit-bull. I’ve lived with my brother all my
life, and when I’m with this dog I can definitely see many resemblances in his
actions compared to my brothers. I don’t pay much attention to this belief as
in that I’ll have a dissection about it. It’s more of a belief that I find
interesting how ironic it is to compare a pet to their owner.
People believe in making peace with each others. Many may say that it's the right thing to do but it takes a lot to be that person – there’s not many out there these days. Making peace can go so far; that is until the persons trigger butting is pushed and goes against his/hers morals to get even.
Blog #4 "The Allegory of the Cave" (Summary)
The story The Allegory of the Cave by Plato is about teacher
telling a story to his student. The story begins by humans knowing nothing but
walls of caves and the shadows of each other. The human’s are chained up only
hearing voices of grads. The teacher then brings the idea of exposing the
prisoner out into the open world. He mentions how the prisoner’s sight would
hurt and, how he would suffer from the only knowledge he knows. Brining the
prisoner back to the cave the teacher tells how the prisoner would share with
the rest what he had experienced and knowing only what they know whether the
prisoner was telling the truth or not, the rest of the prisoner would not
believe him. Plato uses the example of the prisoners experience to help us
understand that one believes what he know; and what he knows is what he
believes and nothing more. I agree with Plato’s message, you believe what you
know.
